5 Principals of Mediation

The fundamental principles of mediation are as follows:

1.  The process is voluntary

2.  Confidentiality applies to every stage of the Mediation Process;

3.  The Mediator is impartial and neutral and has to remain so throughout the proceeding;

4.  that the parties have the right of self-determination and to decide on their own solutions rather than having a solution imposed on them;

5.  The participants will treat each other and the process with respect.
